Is My Child Ready for AI? A Parent's Guide

What "ready" actually means

Readiness for AI has little to do with technical skill and everything to do with reading comprehension and curiosity. If your child can read a paragraph and ask a follow-up question, they're ready to start understanding what AI is and isn't — usually somewhere around Class 7 or 8.

The real risk isn't starting too early

The real risk is a child using AI tools unsupervised, with no framework for questioning what they're told. That's exactly why Ascent leads with responsible use and critical thinking before any tool is opened, not after.

If your child is already using AI tools at home unsupervised, that's the clearest sign they're overdue for structured guidance, not too young for it.
